The World Bodybuilding and Figure Championship
was founded by Carlos Jordan in 1988. Carlos Jordan began as a
personal trainer in 1998 with Atlanta's Own, I.F.B.B. Mr. Olympia
winner, Lee Haney at Animal Kingdom for 2 years. He later joined
Fitness Today where he stayed for 3 years and finally found a home
at Planet Fitness (formally Gold's Gym) on Buford Highway where he
grew into near legendary status for 16 years. In mid 2000 he began
construction of his very own personal training studio and in
February 2001 he opened Ultimate Bodies by Carlos.
Carlos Jordan entered into a local bodybuilding
competition that lead him to place 5th. After the show he was
frustrated because he and others felt he should have placed higher
if not first overall. He felt that with all the hard work and long
hours in the gym, sacrificing his favorite meals to stay on a strict
diet that would allow him to lean out and build muscle, hours of
cardio sessions, etc. Not only physical but mental discipline. His
failure to place top in his division was based on the judges bias
and there were no guidelines to go by. He created the 1st annual
NOPI nationals World Body Building and Figure Championship with both
amateur and professional competitors including Novice, Master, Super
Grand Master, and Open Short and Tall figure categories.
His first show as a promoter was held out doors
as part of the NOPI Nationals, a motor club enthusiast event for 2
years. His 3rd event was held at the auditorium at Grady High
School. Each year his show grew with more contestants and began
attracting more attention from the local community. It has now
turned into a once a year Main Event held at the Gwinnett Center in
Duluth, Georgia.
